Definitions

• "Cooperius", "we" or "our" refers to the platform and the organization that operates it.
• "Institution" refers to the school that uses Cooperius.
• "User" refers to any account holder — school staff, student or parent.
• "Personal information" refers to any information that allows a natural person to be identified, directly or indirectly.

Acceptance

By creating an account or using Cooperius, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. For student accounts, this acceptance is handled by teaching staff and the institution, in accordance with the access conditions described in our Terms of Use.

Information we collect

We collect the information needed to create and manage accounts (first and last name, email, role), the content you create or upload to the platform (documents, assessments, messages), and technical and usage data (login logs, device type) needed to keep the service running.

Information about minor students

Student accounts are created and managed exclusively by the institution's teaching staff — a student cannot create their own account. Information collected for a student is limited to what's needed for the school context (first and last name, assignments, assessments, communications with the teacher) and is never used for commercial or advertising purposes.

Why we collect this information

This information lets us provide the platform's features (class spaces, grids, educational materials, emulation system, messaging), keep accounts secure, respond to your requests and meet our legal obligations.

How we collect this information

We collect information directly from you (when you create an account, through the contact form), through your institution (when student and parent accounts are created), and automatically as you use the platform (technical data and logs).

How we use this information

Your information is used only to provide and improve the service, keep the platform secure, communicate with you and respond to your requests. We never use it for advertising and never sell it.

Hosting and data transfer

All platform data (accounts, educational content, communications) is hosted on Microsoft Azure servers located in Canada (Canada Central and Canada East regions) and never leaves Canadian territory. This guarantee does not apply to the audience-measurement cookies described in the next section.

Analytics and cookies

With your consent, we use Google Analytics on this public site to measure and improve its traffic (pages viewed, time on site, device type). This data is processed by Google and may be transferred outside Canada. You may decline these cookies at any time; the site remains fully functional without them.

Disclosure to third parties

We never sell your personal information. Some service providers (cloud hosting, email delivery) may have limited access to the data strictly necessary to perform their services, under confidentiality agreements.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to meet our legal obligations. You may request deletion of your information at any time, subject to applicable retention obligations.

Security of your information

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). We apply reasonable administrative, technical and organizational security measures to protect your information — no security measure is ever absolute.

Your rights

You may request access to your personal information, its correction, or the withdrawal of your consent, subject to the limits provided by law. For a student account, such requests generally go through the teacher or institution responsible for the account.
