Hosted in Canada

All Cooperius data is hosted on Microsoft Azure servers located in Canada. Your data never leaves Canadian territory.

Encryption

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Encryption at rest covers all data, without exception: the database as well as the files you upload — documents, images, videos, etc. All communications between your browser and our servers are secured.

Access control

Authentication for school staff and parents is handled by a Microsoft identity service: their password never passes through Cooperius. Students sign in with a PIN assigned by their teacher, stored in an irreversible form — never in clear text. Inside the platform, every access is checked individually: a staff member only sees the class spaces they belong to, and their role in each one determines what they can do there. A student only has access to what their teacher shares with them.

Backups and continuity

The database is backed up continuously and can be restored to a precise point in time. Weekly and monthly copies are kept on top of that, so that a full school year is covered. The files you upload are kept in six copies: three in the primary data centre, written simultaneously, and three more in a second Canadian data centre that takes over if the first becomes unavailable. Backups and replicas remain in Canada.

Subprocessors

We rely on a small number of providers:

  • Microsoft — hosting of the platform and all of its data (Azure), and delivery of its emails (Azure Communication Services). Both run in Canada.
  • Cloudflare — Turnstile, which filters automated contact-form submissions, and Web Analytics, which measures traffic without cookies. Both are present on this marketing site only: they have access to no platform data.

We sell no data and entrust none of it for advertising purposes.

Law 25 compliance

Cooperius is designed in compliance with Québec's Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information (Law 25).

Protection of minors

Student accounts are created and managed exclusively by teaching staff. No student personal data is shared with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes.
